Sherry Massey, NACQJ certified judge
Certified by the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges in 2018, Sherry considers it a privilege to evaluate the body of work currently being produced by quilters. Her philosophy is to approach each entry with respect, recognizing the creativity and necessary skills to bring it to fruition. All levels of expertise are evaluated with objectivity and fairness and constructive comments are provided to quilters so they may improve their workmanship and artistry and stretch their creativity.
Sherry teaches English paper piecing, and lectures on what a certified judge looks for in a quilt, honing in on positive feedback rather than criticism. She especially enjoys working with guilds that have never had a show judged.
As a member of the Edmond Quilt Guild, Sherry has served in the capacity of quilt show chairman and most recently as judging room coordinator, a job both educational and rewarding. She is proud to be a member of a small group that makes quilts for Boys’ Ranch Town.
Sherry Massey began quilting in 1980, and is still discovering fresh passion and challenges in her quilt making. She had two quilts juried into AQS shows in Paducah and one in the Houston Quilt Festival. Her most recent series of projects focus on hexagon designs.
