Hexagon Quilt Challenge

The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show
Each year The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show hosts a themed quilt challenge. This year's theme "Hexagon" celebrates a structural design element near and dear to most quilters. All quilts must measure 30" x 40" and represent traditional hexagon blocks or variations of hexagon designs.

Lone Star Quilt Challenge
Handi Quilter

Quilted by Handi Quilter National Educators and featuring exclusive panels designed by Heidi Helm, senior graphic designer at Handi Quilter, this collection reimagines the classic Lone Star with a bold, modern style. Sometimes it’s easier—and more fun—to skip straight to the quilting. These ready-to-quilt panels let creativity take center stage, highlighting texture, movement, and design without complex piecing. Each quilt showcases a range of techniques, from expressive free-motion and precise ruler work to the advanced capabilities of Pro-Stitcher. The result is a striking mix of innovation and craftsmanship; all rooted in a timeless pattern. This collection is a celebration of quilting at its most creative - inviting you to jump in, explore, and enjoy every stitch.

2025 Kona Color of the Year - Nocturne
Bloomington Normal Modern Quilt Guild

One of our members decided that “Purple Goes with Everything” after using the 2025 Kona Color of the year – Nocturne in her quilt. I think that you will agree after seeing what BNMQG members used with Notcture to make their modern mini quilts.

These quilts are the result of our 8th Kona Color of the Year Mini Quilt Challenge. The intent of this challenge is to expand members’ use of color, modern design, and techniques while creating an original 20” x 20” quilt using the Kona color of the year. These minis showcase a little or a lot of Nocturne utilizing one or more modern design elements such as negative space, improvisational piecing, alternate grids, bold colors, and/or modern traditionalism. bnmqg.org

Men of Colour
Uhuru Quilters Guild

The Men of Colour Quilts is a tribute to men in members’ families and those men we admired throughout history, entertainment, science, ministries, etc. The Men of Colour quilts are created using any quilting style or technique, e.g., traditional, improvisational, wonky, free-piecing method, patchwork applique, fabric manipulation, small amounts of paint, ink, or pencils and free motion embroidery or machine embroidery. We hope you enjoy this display as much as we enjoyed creating the quilts.
Founded in 1994, Uhuru Quilters Guild reflects the diversity of African Americans and the quilting population. Skill levels range from beginner to professional with expertise in both hand and machine techniques represented.  Members are interested in traditional, contemporary, and modern designs.  While many members engaged in quilting as a hobby, the guild also has quilt instructors, judges, and historians. uhuruquiltersguildinc.org

Life and Times

Show of Hands Art Quilters

We are living in challenging times.  Many of us are struggling with the changes in our world. Sometimes we long for sweeter days. We often turn to our art to help us to cope with difficulties and to appreciate the wonders of our lives.  We artists have taken notice of the world around us, and this collection expresses our feelings about some of those we have encountered along the way.

Red Carpet Recreations

Jim Suzio

You’re watching a movie when something stops you in your tracks. Is it the story, the actress, the dress? Whatever it is, you’re transfixed. The same thing happens on a runway or in a photograph that captures a moment in history, when style and fashion come together to create something unforgettable.

This collection brings those moments to life: iconic garments that capture a specific place in fashion history and spark the memory of the first time you saw them. Each piece has been carefully researched, planned, drafted, and created by one person on a home sewing machine.

So the next time someone tells you your dream is “impossible,” remember: the word itself says it all—I’m possible.
