1. Cutting:
• Cut two rectangles 13-1/2 x WOF (width of fabric).
• Remove the selvages from both ends of each piece.
• Measure 9 inches down one long side of one piece and mark.
• Measure 9 inches up the other end of the same long side and mark.
• Fold the fabric in half to measure 6-3/4 inches x WOF.
• Cut each end of the fabric from the mark on the raw edge to the top raw edge of the fabric at the fold, creating an angled point in each short end.
2. Serger Setup a. Set the serger for a 3-thread rolled hem with 40wt. embroidery thread in the needle and the lower looper and the heavyweight thread in the upper looper (Stitch Length = 1.5).
Please note: The machine embroidery shown on the sample table runner is not a part of this class. If you wish to embroider your table runner and are planning to construct it during the class, please complete the embroidery prior to the class. You can embroider the center and/or the ends of the runner as desired.
Supply List: Serger and power cord (in good working order)
7/8 yard fabric for Table Runner Fabric (pictured sample is made from Kauffman Essex, a linen blend, in Natural)
• 4 spools of serger thread to blend with fabric for construction,
Threads for Tassel:
• Two spools of 40wt. variegated embroidery thread
• One spool of heavyweight decorative thread (8-12wt.), such as YLI Pearl Crown Rayon
• Wonderfil Razzle
• 12wt. cotton 12-15 inch per tassel of tie cord (hand quilting or similar) for tassel to blend with decorative threads
• One 3 x 4 inch piece of cardboard or heavy chipboard for wrapping tassel
• Fray Block (seam sealant)
• Paper scissors strong enough to cut cardboard or chipboard
