Expand your skills of thread painting and free motion stitching while coloring a beautiful butterfly on Lutradur. We will cover basic thread painting techniques, needles, threads, machine tension settings and more. Thread painting on lutradur is a fun and easy way to play with pretty threads both in the top and bobbin of your machine and as Lutradur doesn't fray or tear, your finished butterfly can be added to a number of projects as a 3-D pop of fun!

  • Student Maximum: 100
  • Category(ies): Fiber and Needle Arts, Just for Fun, Gift Items, Embellishment, Appliqué, Surface Design
  • Advance Prep: Make sure your machine is clean and in good working order. If you have not attached a free motion quilting foot/darning foot on your machine before, check your manual and get familiar with how these feet attach and work with your machine.
  • Supply List:

Please order the required kit directly from Monique for $4.00 plus shipping using the link below. Order at least one week before the class to allow plenty of time for shipping. (If you are ordering less than one week before the class, you are welcome to join the class as scheduled, and follow along with the recording once the kit has arrived as you will have access to the recorded class for one year.)

    You will also need:

Top Threads: The more the merrier! The more shades you bring the more fun it is. More details will be provided in class handout.

Bobbin Thread: As this project can be viewed on both sides having pretty thread for your bobbin is also key. You can choose to match top to bottom thread, or play with a variety of colors and types. I will also demo the use of thicker threads in the bobbin for this class.

Machine and Feet: Please make sure your machine is clean and in good working order. You will also need to have a darning foot or free motion quilting foot for the class. If your machine comes with more than one be sure to have the foot that allows you to do a zig zag stitch-(has a large opening for your needle).

Needles: I like to use Size 80 or 90 Microtex sharp, quilting, topstitch, or embroidery needles. (always good to have a few extra on hand!)

    Small sharp scissors

    Your Inner Child

    OPTIONAL SUPPLIES:

    Quilting gloves

  • Completion Level: Completion time will vary from student to student
