2-Day Class: March 6 and March 13 Let your creativity flow as you needle felt two baby raccoons peeking out from a stitched tree hollow in this two-part class. Using wool and felting needles, you will create baby raccoons with dimensionality and expression. You will learn the basics of three-dimensional needle felting, including techniques for molding wool into shapes, different types of wools and their characteristics, and how to choose the best needles for the job. Participants will enjoy exploring basic techniques for creating life-like eyes and incorporating fine details, like whiskers. In the second section, you will stitch a tree trunk and hollow, couching yarn and experiment with adding texture through stitching. You can keep the stitching simple, curving the lines to give the tree character and/or explore decorative and free motion stitching techniques and thread painting to create a wonderfully textured and unique tree hollow for your raccoon creations and explore applique and finishing options.
Note: This class will have two sessions (March 6th 11am-1pm and March 13th 11am-1pm). The class fee includes both sessions, and the Zoom link that will be sent in the confirmation email will be used for both sessions.
