Know how to accurately sew a 1/4-inch seam allowance and use rotary cutting equipment.

Label as indicated in parentheses.

From Background fabric

• (1) 3.5-inch x WOF (width of fabric) strip (border)
• (2) 1.5-inch x WOF strips (white keys)
  • From each strip cut (1) 1.5-inch x 25-inch strip (A) and (1) 1.5-inch x 17-inch strip (B), you end up with two of A and two of B
• (2) 3-inch x WOF strips (white keys)
  • From one strip cut (1) 3 x 25-inch strip (A*) and (1) 3 x 8-inch strip (C)
  • From the second strip cut (2) 3 x 17-inch strips (B*)
• (4) 2.5-inch x WOF (binding)
• The remaining background section is to applique the bubbles.

From Dark Piano Keys fabric

• (4) 1.5-inch x WOF strips, each cut into (1) 1.5-inch x 25-inch strip (DA) and (1) 1.5-inch x 17-inch strip (DB)

Fine patchwork pins, small sharp scissors, small bottle of Elmers Glue (white school glue), mechanical pencil, rotary cutter with new blade, 6 x 24-inch ruler, 12.5-inch square ruler, reading glasses if you wear them and anything else that will make your sewing experience more enjoyable. Note: Rotary cutting mats will be available in the classroom.

Fabric requirements:

• 1 1/2 yard non directional fabric for background
• 1/4-yard dark fabric for piano keys
• (5) 6-inch squares of fabric for bubbles
• (4) 4-inch squares of fabric for bubbles
• (6) 3-inch squares of fabric for bubbles (bring a few more if you like)

Will learn enough to finish at home.
