Supply List: Paper scissors, rotary cutter with fresh blade and ruler, pencil with fresh eraser, Add-A-Quarter ruler, two different color highlighters (orange, pink or yellow), Scotch tape, double-sided tape (Scotch brand in the yellow and red box), masking tape or painter's tape, seam roller (optional, but helpful), 1 large Ziploc bag.
Fabric requirements:
Choose a total of seven fabrics: ("Solid" is a solid, texture, tone-on-tone or small single-color print.)
5 fabrics in different colors but similar values for spirals. These should be solids or small to medium prints. 1 fabric with a large pattern you can fussy-cut for the 6-inch centers of spirals and borders, and
1 dark or light solid for background.
For 3 starter blocks in class:
- Color 1 - Center of spirals (Large print to fussy-cut for centers, design should be no more than 4-1/2-inches wide) - (3) 6-inch squares.
- Color 2 - Dark or light solid for background - 3/8 yd.
- Colors 3 -7 - Bright/light for spokes of spirals (solids or small to medium prints that stand out over Color 2) - 1/8 yd each of 5 different colors (They should have similar values.)
If you plan to complete the remaining blocks outside of class to make a finished quilt (54 x 60-inch) here are the fabric requirements:
- Color 1 - Center of spirals (Large print to fussy-cut for centers, design should be no more than 4-1/2-inches wide) - 1-1/2 yds length for borders plus enough fabric to cut 27 fussy-cut motifs (6-inch squares)
- Color 2 - Dark or light solid for background and inner border - 2 yds.
- Colors 3 -7 - Bright/light for spokes of spirals (solids or small to medium prints that stand out over Color 2) - 1/2 yd each of 5 different fabrics
- Backing - 3-1/2 yds (Size of backing needed is 68 x 62-inch)
- Binding - 3/4 yds (May be cut from left over backing fabric)
- Batting - 60 x 65-inches
