Julie entertains an effortless way to punch up your borders using one simple shape. Explore the many tips for color choice, cutting and blending borders with blocks. Each student will leave with one block and 1000 ideas for creating interesting borders. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced quilter you will appreciate the interesting borders that await you. Bring your own fabric; see supply list for details.

  • Experience Level:

  • Prerequisite:

    Basic sewing machine skills.

  • Advance Prep:

    Cut the 3 1/2-inch strips from two contrasting fabrics for a total of four strips.

  • Supply List:

    Rotary cutter with new blade, 6 x 18-inch rotary ruler, rotating cutting mat if available (some will be available in class). Note: Rotary cutting mats will be available in the classroom.

     

    Fabric requirements:

    8 1/2-inch square center block (printed photo, quilt block, panel, or piece of fabric), (2) 3 1/2 x 42-inch strips (4 total) of two contrasting fabrics that play well with the center block. Jelly rolls do NOT work.

  • Completion Level:

    Complete in class.
