Scrappy Applique offers a delightful, quick, and engaging approach to raw-edge applique, suitable for both novice and seasoned quilters alike. Dive into this innovative technique, renowned for its accessibility and boundless creative potential. Led by Deb, an experienced quilter and Certified Teacher, this workshop promises to inspire and empower participants to bring their chosen patterns to life. Join us for a day of creativity, camaraderie, and most of all FUN!   

 

It's an exciting process that is perfect for beginners and advanced quilters, alike. Beginners love it because it is approachable, simple, and doesn't require much precision. Experienced quilters enjoy it because it is a very different/unique process with lots of creative possibilities! Come learn the process and see some great examples! In this class, you will choose your pattern from a wide variety of options. Deb a Scrappy Applique Certified Teacher will walk you through the entire process.

  • Advance Prep:
    • Please purchase, print, and tape together your pattern before the workshop. If using small patterns, you may want to bring more than one.

     

    • Your choice of Scrappy Applique Pattern can be purchased at tiny.cc/sbpatterns. If purchasing a small pattern you will want two patterns for the class  If you have questions email Deb at debatchison@gmail.com 

     

  • Supply List:

    Fabric:

    • Scrap Fabric for the Collaged Applique Piece (The equivalent of 8-12 fat eighths or sixteenths should be plenty, you can use scraps from your scrap bin. I recommend pieces at least 4" X 8" for your first project. Having at least 8-12 different fabrics works best. Feel free to bring more with you.)   
    • Background Fabric   See your pattern for yardage needed, basically, the size you want for your finished quilt or project. (Your choice of Scrappy Applique Pattern can be purchased at tiny.cc/sbpatterns)

    Notions:

    • Rotary Cutter with new blade
    • Any Size Ruler- to use with rotary cutter  
    • Fabric Scissors  
    • Permanent Fabric Marker not removable by heat (Micron pens, Reynolds brand) Parchment Paper
    • Note: Cutting mats and irons will be provided by the expo
  • Completion Level:
    • Most will complete 100% of the project
