MJ will show you an entirely new way to create sparkling gem blocks using the power of improvisational piecing. Students will learn how to make their blocks sparkle and glow using the secrets of color interaction. By the end of class, students will have at least one (and often, many more!) unique gem blocks.

Notions:
- 18 inch ruler & Small ruler with a ¼ inch measurement
- 6-8 business-size envelopes
- Thread assortment (neutrals or colors that match your fabrics)
- Scissors
- Rotary Cutter
- Please note: Cutting mats will be provided in class
Fabric:
- The best fabric for this class are half-yard lengths of solids or textured solids (i.e., batiks, gradients) featuring a variety of hue, value, and saturation levels.
Note: MJ will bring basic freezer paper templates for members to use. However, if students wish to purchase their own, they can do so by purchasing it at their local grocery store OR from Amazon. The freezer paper should be 18 inches wide
