Get in on the fabric weaving craze! Warning: this is totally addictive. Heather will guide you through the basic foundation set up and how to weave a tumbling block textile. Then you will get to see several examples of how color and pattern play out in different ways using this technique. We will discuss what to do with your woven textile - like make a pillow! Bring your own fabric, see supply list for details.

  • Advance Prep:
    • From each 1/2 yard of fabric, cut strips of fabric 2" x width of fabric (at least 40" wide.)
    • You should have 9 strips per fabric.
    • For each strip: Fold strip in half along the long edge, wrong sides together. Press.
    • Open the strip and fold each long edge to the center.
    • The raw edges will meet in the center of the strip. Press.
    • The strips will now be 1" wide x width of fabric, with neat folded edges.
    • If your strips are not holding a nice, crisp crease, try using some Best Press or Spray Starch
    • .
    • Note: To make the job of pressing the strips easier, I recommend a 1" wide (25 mm) bias strip maker. This is readily available at big box sewing stores and on Amazon.
