In this hands-on workshop, you'll discover the art of creating a personalized t-shirt throw that preserves memories and keeps you warm. Our expert instructor will guide you through the process step-by-step, from preparing and cutting your t-shirts to efficiently serging them together into a seamless and durable blanket. Learn essential serging techniques, including handling different fabric types and achieving smooth, professional finishes. 

 

Whether you're a beginner or seasoned sewer, this class offers a fun and rewarding way to repurpose your t-shirt collection into a functional and sentimental keepsake. Gain confidence in using a serger for garment construction while creating a unique blanket that tells your story.

    Fabric Requirements:

    • Sashing: 1 1/4 yards of 58-60 inch-wide stretchy fabric. I love to use fleece because it is also cozy and fluffy. You could also use minky or any knit fabric that has some stretch to it.
    • Backing and Outermost Border: 2 1/4 yards. I use the same fabric for front and back, but you could definitely use a different color for front and back. Recommended: I like the Anti Pill Plush Fleece Fabric from JoAnn.
    • T-shirts: 12 shirts, or any item of clothing that you can. DO NOT CUT THE CLOTHING PRIOR TO CLASS.
    • Notebook
    • Pen or Pencil
    • Seam Ripper
    • Straight Pins
    • Fabric Scissors
    • Snips
    • Marking Tool
    • Rotary Cutter with a New Blade
    • Ruler to use with Rotary cutter
    • 12 1/2-inch Square Ruler
    • 6 x 24-inch Ruler

     

    • Cutting mats will be supplied in the classroom for student use.
