The oldest English paper pieced quilt on record is in the British Isles and dates to 1718. Times may have changed, but handwork is ageless and slow stitching is here to stay. Catherine has been an English paper piecer since her teens in the 1970s and has won national awards for her hand-stitched quilts. Join her as she shares her tried and tested traditional techniques for beautiful accurate piecing. You will start with basic hexagons, then move on to more complex shapes such as diamonds and partial shapes, then dabble with some fussy cutting. By the end of class, you will have learned the techniques you need to create your own masterpiece.
