This is a skill-building class. Our subject will be a lion, but the lessons will extend to other animals as well. During this session, we will focus on needle felting realistic animal eyes, hair and mane, and noses. These skills will increase your confidence to work on other animals. You will have the supplies to complete your lion, but you will not finish it in class. Students will learn how to:

  • utilize various types of wools and needles
  • create life-like eyes with appropriate shape, shading, and fine details
  • needle felt a lion’s nose with dimensionality
  • needlefelt a mane, whickers, and chin hair, using varied wool types
  • make unique colors by blending wool
  • clean up edges
  • work in fine details
  • check one’s work and problem solve
  • finish and finalize the project.
  • Student Maximum: 100

Please order the required kit directly from Karen for $25 plus shipping using the link below. A felting pad is not included in the kit, but it is required.  Order at least one week before the class to allow plenty of time for shipping (if you are ordering less than one week before the class, you are welcome to join the class as scheduled, and follow along with the recording once the kit has arrived as you will have access to the recorded class for one year.). http://explore.bigskyfiberarts.com/go

    You will also need:

        Scissors

Felting mat (8 by 12 or larger is best). Recommended, but not required

Needle felting tool holding multiple needles. If you are going to buy just one, I recommend the pen style. It holds three needles. The Clover tool that holds 5 needles is helpful as well.

  • Completion Level: 50% complete
