Do I need to bring a sewing machine?
Sewing machines will be provided in any Hands-on Class where machines are used. The only exception to this is the following More the Day Before classes offered on Wednesday: The Laurel Burch Pocket Bag, Lingerie Finishes for Daywear II, Putting the "Zip" Into Your Home Dec Projects and Pants Fitting Workshop. You must bring your own machine for these classes, or reserve one when you pre-register.
 

Photoshop Elements 6.0 with Katie Bartz
Prerequisite: Must be comfortable with Windows applications and using a mouse.
Supply List: Laptop with mouse (or pen pad, even better!) is optional, but highly recommended, as much time in class will be spent working out various scenarios in Photoshop Elements. Image files will be provided, and you may bring your own photos on a CD to edit if time allows. Bring paper to take notes and capture Katie's tips in addition to the class handout you’ll receive. Photoshop Elements 6.0 software will be provided on the same CD as class images (30-day trial version). Trial version of software is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista. Please arrive 15 minutes early to download, or if you prefer, install the 30-day trial version (available at www.adobe.com/downloads/) before you come to class. Do not download the trial too far ahead, as you will be unable to use the software after 30 days without purchase. There is also a demo version for Mac computers, but you will need to download that before you arrive as the instructor does not have the Mac demo available to load for you.

Knitted Quilt Blocks with Mary Bell
Prerequisite: Must know how to knit and purl, cast on and off.

Self-Patterning Socks with Mary Bell
Prerequisite: Must know how to knit and purl, cast on and off.

Thrummed Mittens with Mary Bell
Prerequisite: Must know how to knit and purl, cast on and off.

Ambidextrous Oven Mitt or Trivet with Nora Bellows
Prerequisite: Must know how to knit, purl, increase and decrease with ease. Knitting in the round on double-pointed needles needles a plus but not required.

Advance Prep: Using a double-strand of yarn on US 11/8 mm dpn, CO 2 sts, leaving a long tail (about 45”/112 cm), and work as a 2-st I-cord for 21 rounds. Once complete, transfer these two stitches to a US 11/8 mm 16” circular needle. Then loop the beginning of the I-cord (with the long tail attached to it) up to meet the end of the I-cord (the 2 sts on the needle).  Use the long tail and the live yarn to execute a long tail CO and CO 38 more sts (40 sts total), placing a marker before the first stitch and after the 20th stitch. Join, and work in the round for 31 (36) rounds.  
Supply List: US 11/8 mm double pointed needle, US 11/8 mm  16” circular needles, scissors, stitch markers, several skeins of feltable yarn (Plymouth Galway, Shepard's Wool by Sonehedge Fiber Mills, Louet's Riverstone or any worsted weight feltable wool of your choice) in colors you enjoy. Students will be asked to share yarns with each other, and Nora will supply a huge collection of yarns for color play and incorporation into your project. 

Knitted Flowers to Felt (or Not) with Nora Bellows
Prerequisite: Must know how to knit, purl, increase and decrease with ease. Knitting in the round on double-pointed needles needles a plus but not required.
Supply List: Tapestry needle, 1 pkg. of split ring stitch markers, US size 11/8mm needles, (short) straight or double-pointed, US size 7/4.5mm needles, (short) straight or double-pointed, Worsted weight, 100% wool yarn in several flower-ish colors (a skein of each, preferable, but not necessary) Optional: mohair in flower-ish colors to match your wool yarn    

Enrich Your Jeans With Embroidery with Debra Bohn
Bring a pair of plain jeans to embroider and thread to match the hem.

Supply List: Bring your laptop and power cord with an external mouse for hands-on experience. Bring a notepad and pen to take notes.
This class is appropriate for anyone who wants to experience embroidery software and learn how easy it is to create your own designs. Software needed for class: Husqvarna Viking 4D Embroidery Extra, Husqvarna Viking 4D Professional, Pfaff Creative 4D Embroidery Extra or Pfaff Creative 4D Suite.

If you do not own any of the above software, a trial version of the Husqvarna Viking 4D Professional software will be available for download. Please arrive one hour prior to class to pre-load software (trial version). You will need to know how to turn off your virus protection before you load this software. If you have expired virus protection software, you will need to uninstall it before you can load the software.

Debra Bohn is very knowledgeable about embroidery software and how it affects embroidery, but she is not a computer specialist. Each computer is unique in terms of its operating system, applications, virus protection, firewall and so on. Most times the software will load easily; however, if there are hurdles to overcome before successfully loading the software and you are not a computer expert, you may prefer to attend class without working on your laptop, taking notes and working through the handout, observing Debra and others with the software. You may also opt to use embroidery software you already own.

Owners of other 3D or 4D software may choose to use what they own or download the trial version. Pants Fitting Workshop with Shelley Doyal
Bring enough muslin to make a pair of pants, 7 – 9” zipper, thread, scotch tape, basic sewing supplies (tape measure, pins, shears and snips) and your sewing machine. Don’t forget your bobbin, foot control and power cord! Please bring or wear appropriate clothing to measure over. Do not wear jeans. Suggested garments would be a leotard, leggings or a loose-fitting thin fabric pant to get as accurate of measurements as possible. As an added bonus we will be taking upper body measurements also. Please bring or wear a tank top or a sleeveless top. For owners of Wild Ginger Software, bring proof of ownership (such as your box) to class. You may take this class if you do not yet own Wild Ginger Software;  however, finished sloper is property of Wild Ginger until purchase is made.

To move class along and allow you the best opportunity to finish in 4 hours, please bring the following already completed: From 2 yards of black fabric (may be solid, marbled or tone on tone but should not be so predominate to take away from the colorful quilted portion of the bag), cut the following pieces: 1 - 20" x 33" / 1 - 19" x 36" / 1 - 20" x 36" / 1 - 4" x 30" / 2 - each 6" x 14"      Also cut one piece of fabric for inside pockets that can be bright and colorful and should measure 19" x 45". Using either one piece of fabric or many fabrics, make two strips each 4" x 56". Press all of the seams in one direction and with right sides together stitch along the length and across one end. Turn right side out and press.
