Yes, it really IS cute. And it’s big fun to make, too. But the best thing is all the sewing and embellishment techniques you’ll learn while you’re making your little embellished cardigan! Get more creative with your machine after spending a few hours with Marsha, whose technical and artful advice blend seamlessly into a busy, confidence-building experience. Explore and combine a series of machine techniques, including beautiful and sophisticated uses for decorative stitches, couching, layered embroidery and fascinating new effects using floating and triple ribbon stitches. Enjoy the on-screen creation of an applique, and stitch it out in the machine embroidery hoop. Add a few practical lessons like stabilizing the neckline of your child’s-size sweatshirt conversion and creating a bound lower hem, and you’ve covered it all. Every one of these techniques is applicable to the same project in larger sizes for him or her, and so many other projects as well. All materials provided for a children’s Small (size 6) sweatshirt, which you’ll transform from a plain pullover into a cardigan style any child would love. Actual class time is 1:00-5:00pm and 6:30-8:00pm.
